Because of excess demand we have to restrict access to our service. We give
initial advice to anyone living in South Manchester , but we do not take on
cases if:
· the client has a legitimate local representative,
· or lives outside the Manchester City Council area,
· or North of Manchester Town Hall,
· or has a representative in another area but the case is past the point
where we could usefully take it over
UNLESS
· Client has family connection with existing or former client,
· Or domestic violence is involved.
Clients who move away from Manchester are encouraged to find a new representative
The fact that a client comes within this policy does not guarantee that we can
give them a service, but our service is only available to people coming within
this policy.
Most of our work is concerned with the Home Office Border and Immigration Agency, and particularly with refugees and asylum seekers. We are only qualified to advise on English Law. We cannot give advice about the operation of laws and policies of other countries.
Application forms for people who want to come to, or stay in, the UK are available from the IND website.
There is no official form for people to apply for a visitor visa, so we have produced our own which you can print out. The Form itself is not important - it is the evidence you send with it which matters.
Our advice is free. There are unscrupulous organisations in Manchester and elsewhere that exploit vulnerable people by charging large sums of money for information or forms which are available for free, for writing to their MP, or for offering to help them to fight a case which they cannot possibly win. We are working with the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner to help drive these organisations out of business.
Information about specific countries is here. The sites on this page are either about UK policy or services or about groups of countries.
